Biography

"Ride, you cowboys ride. Keep on runnin' with the sun until the final ride is done. And ride, you cowgirls ride. Keep on runnin' right in stride with the dreams that keep you alive."

Dean Himes

Dean Himes was born in Pennsylvania and first became interested in performing music when he was 8 years old and in grade school. At that time, Dean can recall playing or more like "fake playing" his TruTone acoustic guitar and singing "Wait for the Wagons" at a school performance in a trio with two girls. That started it all. After high school and after dropping out of college, he moved to California for a short time and recorded his first project in Santa Barbara. It was a two song 45 rpm record project engineered and produced by Terry Nelson whose resume includes working with some quite familiar artists including Joe Walsh and Michael McDonald.
After that project Dean headed back east but only made it as far as Colorado. He soon put together a five piece band project that was billed as Dean Himes and Horseplay. After several years of performing in that band at country music establishments and events all over the front range, he returned to his roots and presently performs as a solo or with a two or three person ensemble. He also occasionally fills in with and shares the stage with country bands.
Dean, a resident of Colorado, is also an avid songwriter and is currently compiling songs for his next compilation/recording project.

"I go down there every chance I can. I've got a jar of seashell memories when I can't. Seashell memories get me by."
